Standards and accountability

In academic terms, the success of the education offered at the College is measured objectively by external examination boards. Each year we send our leavers to British and French universities, including Oxford, Cambridge and the Sorbonne.  Students have also gone on to study in the USA and Spain. An up-to-date list of leavers’ destinations is published here. Chavagnes International College prepares pupils for GCSE, IGCSE, A-levels, Oxford and Cambridge admissions tests, plus various other examinations from the following external bodies:

Cambridge International Examinations

Cambridge Assessment

The Assessment and Qualifications Alliance (AQA).

The National Latin Exam

The UK Mathematics Trust (UKMT)

We also prepare our pupils for the French Diplôme National du Brevet

From time to time, some boys also sit exams for the French Baccalauréat, subject to demand and availability of staff for extra coaching.

Chavagnes International College is an Institutional Member of the College of Teachers, the world’s oldest professional body in education. We abide by its Code of Practice.

The College also belongs to CISC, the UK-based Catholic Independent Schools Conference, enabling the Headmaster to meet and exchange on best practice with his counterparts in other Catholic schools.

We are inspected every year by AQA, for the conduct of public examinations. We have also been inspected by the French ministry of education and are accountable to the Académie de Nantes.
