Chavagnes alumni news SUMMER 2011

Chavagnes alumnus, Brian Roxburgh (at Chavagnes from 2002-2005), has recently been awarded a first class honours degree in the Liberal Arts "summa cum laude" from Thomas Aquinas College, one of the USA's leading liberal arts places of study. He has also been given a full scholarship and a 3-year studentship for the University of Dallas Politics PhD programme.

His Chavagnes classmates Alexander (at Chavagnes from 2002-2005) and Gregory Morrison (at Chavagnes from 2003-2005)  also both achieved first class honours degrees, Alexander from Oxford and Gregory from Wales (Lampeter). Gregory won the annual prize for the highest marks in Theology in his university. Alexander was also awarded an Organ scholarship and an academic scholarship at Oriel College, Oxford.

Gregory, having spent one year teaching at Chavagnes, is now working for the Prison Service in the UK, while Alexander, now Brother Stephen, is in his second year in the Norbertine Order, studying for the priesthood at Allen Hall, the seminary of the Archdiocese of Westminster.

Last year's A-level leavers, Dominic O'Leary and Patrick Adams, both continue an academic path. Dominic, having spent two terms helping at his alma mater, is now preparing to read English Literature and Celtic at Edinburgh University, following stiff competition for places (he was told that 81% of applicants were rejected). Edinburgh is rated in the top ten internationally for nthe study of English literature. Patrick, meanwhile, is in his first year at Buckingham University, reading Politics.
