Father Rowe, new chaplain

Father Rowe of the diocese of Clifton is to take over as Chaplain to Chavagnes International College from September 2011.

He will also serve as chaplain to the Chavagnes scouts during the Chartres pilgrimage in June.

Father Rowe is currently parish priest of Warminster where he has been for the last five years.

The Chavagnes scout troop has had a great year. About a dozen boys took their Scout Promise during an all-night vigil in St Joseph's Chapel in the midst of our little bamboo forest!

This year's activities included several weekend camps and various orienteering exercises, a scouting display for our Open Day in June, and participation in the Paris to Chartres pilgrimage.

Mr Crawford recently participated in a special week-long training course for Scout leaders, so he has plenty of new ideas for 2010-2011.

Chavagnes

International College is an approved local examinations centre for both University of Cambridge International Examination and AQA (The Assessment and Qualifications Alliance).

Under European law, examinations from these UK-approved examinations bodies are considered equivalent to European diplomas such as the Baccalaureat and as such entitle students to matriculate for university across the European Union.

In addition, A-level examinations from Cambridge International Examinations are especially highly regarded by universities worldwide. Many US universities offer undergraduate credits for subjects studied to A-level, thus dispensing students from certain 1st-year university courses.

Chavagnes alumnus, Brian Roxburgh (at Chavagnes from 2002-2005), has recently been awarded a first class honours degree in the Liberal Arts "summa cum laude" from Thomas Aquinas College, one of the USA's leading liberal arts places of study. He has also been given a full scholarship and a 3-year studentship for the University of Dallas Politics PhD programme ....
