As the College numbers increase, students will be assigned sets in
different subjects according to academic ability in both the Arts and
the Sciences. It will be possible for a student to change sets at
particular points in a course. This would normally occur at the end of
a term and involve discussions between the Head Master and the teachers
concerned. Currently, this works by scheduling almost all subjects at
the same time within the Senior school. This means that it is fairly
easy for a child to ‘move up a year’ in certain subjects if it is felt
by the College authorities that this will help to motivate him.
For the 2006-2007 academic year there are two classes in the Senior School taking in students from Years 9, 10 and 11.
There is only one class in the Junior School (Made up of 10 boys from
Yrs 6-8), although some pupils have moved up to the Senior School for
Mathematics.
For the 2007-2008 academic year, it is likely that there will be two
classes in the Senior School (S1 and S2) and two in the Junior School
(J1 and J2).
As mentioned above, the junior classes will involve a much greater emphasis on the teaching of French, from September 2007.
